About our outreach program
The mission of the Outreach Ministry Group is "to offer and encourage all members of the parish to practice outreach and bring real meaning to the teachings of Christ by helping those in need." Through reaching out, all ages are encouraged to offer Christian service outside the walls of our Parish community
St. James has a tradition of a strong commitment to outreach ministry. Financial support of local, national and international programs is the basis for our outreach giving. Examples include the local Country Pantry Food Bank, scholarships for our Day School, help for Abraham House in Utica, donations to the Ride for Missing Children, the Vietnam Fund for Reconciliation, the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund. In addition, rental of the Lewis House has, over the years, provided reduced-rent housing to persons in need.
As we consider future giving, St. James Church, along with all other Episcopal Churches, is being challenged to embrace the international Millennium Development Goals.
Matching funds are also encouraged, so if you have a special outreach project, the Outreach Group may be able to match your giving. Equally important is the invitation for each one of us to get involved in some kind of service to others.
