Episcopalians began meeting in Clinton as early as 1832. The parish was incorporated on May 19, 1862. The name St. James' was chosen because the day's proximity to the Feast of St. Philip and St. James (May 1st.)
The present church on Williams Street was built in 1865. We are celebrating our 150th anniversary this year. Our main celebrations will be June 8-10, 2012. The Rt. Rev. Gladstone "Skip" Adams III, Bishop of the Diocese of Central New York, joins us in our celebration service on June 10.
We hold services on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. We have an exceptional music program, strong lay ministry, and outreach and education programs including Sunday School and nursery. An interfaith youth group, Rite 13, participates in outreach and service projects, in social activities and supervised trips.
