excerpt from an article in the Messenger the newspaper of the Episcopal Diocese of Central New York, Vol 194. No. 3 Dec 2006 by Rev. Dr. John LaVoe; Diocesan, Formation Program, director
Arriving at the Cathedral for ordinations is like arriving at Camelot for a festival -- rooms and hallways buzz with people, lights glow, opened doors invite, choristers and organ practice add sounds of mounting celebration, while Father Stuhlman instructs participants like a maestro conducting the orchestra. The ordinands look different in their clergy garb: preparing to say ordination vows, to be prayed over by the bishop invoking the Holy Spirit's grace, and affirmed by the whole church as deacons, as icons, bridges, and "pests"! For me, the electricity of arriving at St Paul's foreshadowed the joy, power, and grace of what was to unfold.
