About Richard Lloyd
our music director
Richard is responsible for all the church’s worship music. He has been St. James' minister of music since 1993. Richard graduated from Hamilton College, and did his graduate studies at McGill University, concentrating in composition. Richard practices the organ several days of the week, the fruits of which we enjoy during the pre- and postlude music at the Sunday worship service. He leads the adult choir, challenging it with difficult anthems, some written or arranged by himself, along with an assortment of modern and traditional works.
Richard is also a Lecturer in Dance at Hamilton College. Previously he has been the music director at other churches in Waterville and Utica.
He has worked as a Teaching Artist and Performing Artist in the Central New York Arts in Education Institute. Among the grants he has received are three from Meet the Composer for dance-music collaborations and performance art.
