About our Worship Leaders

We are very fortunate to have a several supply priest during the interim period (time between Rectors). These include Don Berry, John LaVole, Joelle Szachara and Peter Williams. Supply priest are clergy persons who lead the worship service and celebrate (bless and consecrate) the Eucharist when the regular priest (canonical priest) is not in residence.

Many of you met Peter Williams during the summer. He continues to worship with us two Sundays of each month. An article about him appeared in the June 2009 newsletter. Fr. Don Berry is a retired Colgate University Philosophy and Religion professor; he has served as supply priest for St. James for many years.  Fr. John LaVole has served as supply priest at many area churches, and has a good understanding of churches in transition. The Rev. Joelle Szachara is the priest at St. Stephen's Church in New Hartford. She leads their Sunday worship service (at St. Stephen's, New Hartford) and joins us at St. James for some Saturday services.

Lay worship leaders for our Morning and Evening Prayer services include Alistair Campbell, Matt and Wendy Weber, and Sandra Love.

Fair trade coffee
St. James Church uses fair trade coffee. We see this as one step we can take in helping to alleviate poverty in the world by helping these farmers provide financially for their families.
