READINGS

Lectionary

The lectionary is a collection of bible passages appointed to be read at public worship.  We use the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL). This lectionary is a three-year cycle of readings (Year A, B and C).

We are currently in Year C which began on the first Sunday of Advent 2009.

Using the RCL, at each service (Saturday 5:15pm, and Sunday 9:30 am), we hear a passage from

  • the Old Testament, Apocrypha or Acts of the Apostles,
  • from the Book of Revelation or the Epistles, and
  • from one of the four Gospels.

and also read or sing a Psalm.

Fair trade coffee
St. James Church uses fair trade coffee. We see this as one step we can take in helping to alleviate poverty in the world by helping these farmers provide financially for their families.
