This is one of the major fundraisers for this program. The Clinton ABC program, which allows urban gifted, but at risk youth to live in Clinton and attend Clinton High School, is a part of a nation-wide effort to identify, encourage and develop leaders among young people of color.

Fair Trade
We use Fair Trade coffee for our coffee hour. Most coffee purchased and drunk in the United States relies on agriculture workers who toil in what can be described as "sweatshops in the fields." Many small coffee farmers receive prices for their coffee that are less than the costs of production, forcing them into a cycle of poverty and debt. Fair Trade is a viable solution to this crisis; importers must meet stringent international criteria, pay a minimum price per pound of $1.26, provide much needed credit to farmers, and provide technical assistance such as help transition to organic farming. Fair Trade for coffee farmers means community development, health, education, and environmental stewardship
Please consider using Fair Trade coffee, cocoa and other products in your home. More stores are selling these items. They can also be purchased in vacuum packed bags from Stone Presbyterian Church, Clinton, or from Tom's Natural Foods, College Street, Clinton; Tom's will sell any quantity and grind beans to suit your needs. |

Fair trade coffee St. James Church uses fair trade coffee. We see this as one step we can take in helping to alleviate poverty in the world by helping these farmers provide financially for their families.
