Celebration of Ministry
May 3rd, 2009

On May 3rd, at the Sunday morning service, we celebrated with a Children's Service. Our Youth read the Lectionary readings, the children's choir sang, Emma Petro was baptized in the presence of her four great grandmothers (!), and we enjoyed cake.

At 5:30 pm, we gathered for a pot-luck dinner to celebrate Jenny's seven years of ministry with us.  We enjoyed a slide show put together by Karen Anderson, shared our stories, and gave Jenny some parting gifts. We remember with fondness and great love her time with us,  and wish her well in her new ministry at St. Andrew's in Arlington, Virginia. Godspeed and may our Lord keep his face shining before both Jenny and her husband Joe in their new ministry.

How sweet are Your words (O God) to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey (or cake) to my mouth! Psalm 119:103

Fair trade coffee
St. James Church uses fair trade coffee. We see this as one step we can take in helping to alleviate poverty in the world by helping these farmers provide financially for their families.
